Alpaca Institute of CT
The Alpaca Institute of CT began life as the CT Institute of Alpacas in 2005 when five farms in southeastern Connecticut decided to band together to bring educational seminars and events to New England. After a restructuring, we renamed ourselves the Alpaca Institute of CT and continue to offer quality seminars to area breeders. Our misson is to offer informative seminars on all aspects of alpaca ownership and breeding, in order to strengthen the alpaca industry within New England. With so many new breeders entering our industry, it is more important than ever for breeders to stay current on all aspects of running a successful alpaca farm -- from herd health and birthing issues to farm and pasture maintenance to the evaluation and preparation of fiber.

Neonatal seminar

It's always difficult to find the time, and the money, to attend seminars. We at the Alpaca Institute understand the complexities of leaving the farm to go to a far-off educational event, but with New England-based seminars perhaps it becomes easier to get yourself to a few seminars a year.

We will be hosting one seminar each spring and fall. We hope that you can join us for some, or all, of these events! Our past seminars have included a neonatal seminar and wet lab with Dr. Cheryl DeWitt; a 2-day clinic with Marty McGee Bennett; "All Things Considered" seminar with Dr. Steve Hull and Dr. Tom Cameron, DVM; a seminar with fleece judge Diana Timmerman covering the preparation and evaluation of fiber; and a seminar on making small farms profitable with Deb Hill.

Camelidynamics seminar

The Alpaca Institute is comprised of four Connecticut farms: Alpacas at Scotland Hill in Scotland, CT; New England Alpacas of Killingworth, CT; Saltaire Alpacas in Clinton, CT; and Stone Bridge Farm in Griswold, CT.
